Every pet deserves a day at the spa. Besides, it’s good for their health. Cleanliness is the foundation of modern medicine, and an integral component to the health of your pet and household. The Veterinary Village GroomSpa is a state-of-the-art medical grooming facility, fully equipped with the latest medical veterinary equipment to handle the most challenging cases.

  • Sedated Pet Grooming

Most animals can be groomed without sedation or anesthesia, however, there are many pet patients who require this procedure. Primary candidates for our sedated pet grooming service are animals who struggle with behavioral aggression, those who are easily stressed, and those who struggle with physical pain, particularly due to heavy matting.

At Animal Health Center, our main priority is our pet patient’s safety and comfort.

We have a full in-house grooming facility at the hospital, complete with the most up-to-date anesthesia and monitoring systems in each grooming room. Our professional GroomSpa team works closely with hospital staff to ensure the safety of your pet during grooming and while under sedation. Doctors and technicians will perform pre-anesthetic testing, administer medications as necessary, and monitor your pet during the entirety of their visit.

A key benefit of regular grooming at Animal Health Center is that we become familiar with your pet’s medical and emotional needs, allowing us to recognize developing problems before they escalate (i.e. skin conditions, parasite infections, new lumps or masses, swelling, tenderness, etc.). As a state-of-the-art animal hospital, we have professionals on staff 24-7, giving the groomer immediate access to medical assistance or diagnosis when any conditions arise.

If you believe your pet may benefit from our specialty sedated pet grooming service, please contact our staff today to schedule a consultation with our veterinarian.

    PHYSICAL THERAPY/REHABILITATION PROGRAM

Just like with humans, movement is important during rehabilitation to maintain muscle control and strength, decrease stiffness, and increase the stability of the joints. Most commonly employed physical therapy options include PROM (massage and passive range of motion) whereby trained medical professionals move the joints and muscles of the patient to promote a higher range of motion; monitored specialized exercises designed to promote balance and coordination; and hydrotherapy, which allows patients to explore a full range of motion in a water bath, without the damaging pull of gravity. Physical therapy can benefit numerous conditions, including:

Recovery from a soft tissue injury

Surgical and TTA-Rapid ACL ligament injury

    Degenerative Myelopathy

    Hip Dysplasia

    Gait abnormalities

    Stroke

    Arthritis

  • Behavior Modification/Training Classes

Call today for more information on our “New Puppy Classes” with Jose!    email for more info

Dog training is about fostering the bond between family and pet.  At the Veterinary Village, we believe dog training is much more than obeying commands and performing tricks. It is the invaluable process of introducing a new language as a tool to reach across the speech/species barrier. This allows for a better understanding of what each other needs, feels, and expects from the other. We believe a well-trained dog is an emotionally and physically healthier being that will live in harmony and comfort as a beloved member of the family.

Behavior Modification is the systematic approach to changing behavior. Unlike obedience training that trains a dog to perform specific actions when requested, behavior modification looks to change a dog’s reaction to situations, persons, things, etc., ultimately changing the way a dog thinks, feels, and acts. It is important in behavior modification to focus on the why and when a dog acts inappropriately in order to effectively change their behavior and set them up for success.

It is important for people to understand that in both dog training and behavior modification classes, many times it is our human actions that set the tone for our dog’s actions/reactions.  It takes equal effort on both parts, the master and the dog, to see successful changes in behavior.  Be prepared to work every day and every week with your dog and not just use the hour long session as your “training” / “modification” time.   It’s a bit like prepping for a test- the more time you spend studying over the long term, as opposed to the night before, the better your results will be!

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

Jose, our resident trainer, conducts 8-week sessions geared towards your pet’s needs. The cost is $250 each eight week session. Classes run about 1 hr with a short break in the middle. Give a call to learn more.

Testimonials

  • Dr. Haroush doesn’t only look after your pet as a professional, but he sees your pet as one of his own. With his extensive veterinary knowledge and fully-equipped hospital, he is able to give you peace of mind when it comes to your pet. The Animal Health Center really is the best place to take care of your pet’s problems. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Unlike large veterinary hospitals that deal with a myriad of pets hastily, this private practice gives you reassurance that your pet will be taken care of exceptionally on an individual basis.

  • When our Labrador Max became seriously ill during non-business hours, our local vet referred us to Bedford Katonah Vet Center.  This was a terrible experience, as they gave us no diagnosis but charged us several thousand dollars.  We took Max home against their advice and searched for a new vet. Thank God we found Dr. Haroush! He took Max immediately and saved him.  Dr. Haroush became our family vet and we tell everyone we know about him.  He is a tremendous Doctor and a great man!

    –Max & the Spencer Family
  • Thank you for your dedication to finding treatment for Atlas.  Your generosity for finding the best plan of care for Atlas’ aggressive and extremely rare cancer helped us get through the last year.  We hope we have many more healthy and happy years to go.  We are so very thankful.

  • I want to again thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience and compassion and above all you expertise in diagnostic skills and the subsequent surgery you preformed on Ebony.  You may not remember, but Ebony Star suffered for more than half of her life (4 years) before I found your name one day on the internet when I was desperately looking for a veterinarian that could help her.

    –Ebony Star & Lutizia Liubenov
  • Thank you so much again for literally saving my (beloved) Dominic’s life. We were so distraught when we brought his sick nearly lifeless body in. But, through your skill, talent, & expertise, you helped bring him back to health. Dominic is definitely his old self & receiving lots of love. Each member of your staff treated us in the great professionalism & courtesy. And your follow up through phone calls was really excellent.

  • Thank you very much for saving Luna’s life. Even with her disability, she is very happy and content.“Luna” loves attacking her toys, and running all over the house with her brother and sister. Luna is great as stalking and surprise attacks on the other cats. Thank you for your knowledge and compassion “for the animals”. I appreciate everything you and your staff has done for me and giving Luna a life she deserves.

  • We cannot thank you enough for saving Cayden. He is such a huge part of our lives and couldn’t imagine being without him. You have made it possible for him to be a puppy again and to enjoy his special life with us. It was such a gift to see him be reunited with his brother, Romeo and how happy they’ve been since his return. Again, thank you for taking such wonderful care of Cayden, we couldn’t have asked for more.
