    Intro to Pet Nutrition

There is no question that proper nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle for humans and their pets. We have all learned the importance of getting a good night sleep, drinking enough water, and eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. And there is no reason that the same tenets of good health should not apply to our pets. But life is full of nuance, and even after generations of scientific study, Nutritionists are still debating the ideal balance of nutrients – it is difficult because every body is unique and daily inputs and outputs are constantly in flux. Things are always changing!

Just as you would look to your pediatrician to help determine the proper diet for your child, ask your veterinarian for advice on the diet of your pets. Our tips? Not all dog food/cat food is created equal. If you can, try to feed your pet as close to a natural diet as possible and try avoiding processed ingredients. Do not feed your dogs grapes, onions, garlic, or chocolate. But they do love apples, eggs, milk, and chewing on a steak bone.
