    National Pet Wellness Month

October is National Pet Wellness Month, and you guessed it, we are going to help you get educated on how to keep your pet healthy & fit! Together, let’s put preventative care at the forefront. Read below for some tips and guidelines for your pet’s wellness.

    1. Annual Exams

This is a great opportunity for you and your vet to have a detailed conversation about your pet’s health. You should make sure to review your pet’s vaccination status and also ask any questions you may have about changes you notice in your pet’s health/behavior.  This is the time to really connect with your veterinarian. After all, you are your pet's spokesperson.

    1. Weight Management

Although we don't like to admit it, prevention is possible! Talk to your veterinarian about getting your pet on the right diet & exercise regime based on their current age and health condition.

    1. Spay/Neuter

This procedure curbs pet overpopulation and reduces the risk of unwanted pets that could be euthanized each year. It can also reduce the risk cancer and prevent mammary and testicular tumors and uterine infections.

    1. Dental Care

A healthy mouth means a healthy pet! Have your pet’s teeth & oral health checked annually by your veterinarian. Make sure to ask how to properly brush your pet’s teeth and what kind of at home prevention is available for your pet.

    1. Senior Pets

As animals age, their dietary & exercise requirements change. Talk to your veterinarian today to discuss the options for safely caring for your senior pet. In most cases, a change in diet can decrease the workload on the kidneys and help prevent diseases from developing.
